toilet bowl tips

The toilet is one of the most important parts of your home. It’s where we all go to do our business, but it’s also an area that seems to get neglected more than any place in the house.

Unfortunately, this neglect can lead to an unpleasant result: a dirty and smelly toilet bowl.

However, keeping the toilet clean is easier than you might think!

In this article, I’ll give you 6 tips to keep your toilet bowl clean and pristine.

Let’s get started.

Flush Gently…But Still Flush.

You may be tempted to flush the toilet with all your might, but there’s no need for that. Using too much force when flushing can damage the flush lever or button.

Don’t Clean with Abrasives, Avoid Bleach

Use a toilet brush and cleaning products designed for toilets, not harsh abrasive cleaners like bleach.

Abrasive brushes and cleaners can damage the surfaces of your toilet bowl, tank, and other parts of your toilet bowl. Cleaning agents that contain bleach can also cause damage over time if they come into contact with metal parts within the tank.

If you really must use bleach to remove stubborn stains, use it sparingly. And make sure your wear protective gear like gloves and facemasks when handling bleach.

Clean the Toilet Bowl Once a Week

To keep your toilet bowl clean, you should clean it at least once a week, more frequently if you have a lot of foot traffic in your bathroom. This will prevent mold and bacterial build-up. Make sure you let your toilet bowl dry after cleaning.

Keep the Lid Down

Keeping the toilet seat up can cause all kinds of problems, such as bad odors and even sprinkle germs in the air when you flush with the lid up.

So, to be safe keep the toilet bowl lid down before you flush, and when it’s not in use.

Don’t Flush Anything Down the Toilet Other Than Waste and Water.

Sanitary products, tissues, wipes, and similar items should never go down the toilet because they can clog your pipes.

They don’t break down easily in water they can cause blockages to occur which can be a headache and very expensive to fix.

Use Essential Oils to Deodorize Your Toilet Bowl

A few drops of essential oil can make your toilet bowl smell heavenly. Use 2-3 drops of your favorite essential oil and pour into your toilet bowl water.

Let it sit for a few hours or overnight, then flush the toilet to freshen up the bathroom.

Conclusion:

Cleaning your toilet bowl is an easy way to keep your bathrooms and home looking clean and sanitary.

The next time you clean your toilet bowl, I hope you’ll try some of these suggestions.
